Why Floss Your Teeth Daily?

We all listen carefully during our routine dental visits to the oral hygiene tips that Drs. Clement Monroe and Kamron Monroe and his/her staff offer aimed at preventing tooth decay and other dental problems. We commit to a healthy daily routine as we enjoy our fresh, clean smile!

But how often do we forget -or choose not to -brush diligently or floss our teeth, thinking it really doesn’t matter all that much!

Drs. Monroe and Monroe would like to take the opportunity to remind you that it does. Just as it is important to eat healthy and move around each and every day, brushing AND flossing daily are the keys to enjoying a lifelong smile that is strong and healthy.

Here is a short ADA video with instructions on how to floss effectively:

Flossing your teeth is the best way to remove food particles and reduce plaque build up between the teeth. This not only reduces the risk of developing a tooth cavity, but also helps keep the gums healthy and prevent gum disease- the number one cause of tooth loss today.

Making something a habit requires us to do it every day- for at least a few weeks- until it is such a natural part of daily life that we can do it without thinking about it. Tooth brushing and flossing should be a natural part of your daily life in order to keep your smile as healthy as possible between regular visits to our Pinehurst dentist office. If you have questions about your oral hygiene routine, ask us at your next visit. We are here to help!
